2012 Vista Competition Information: POSTPONED
The Vista Competition is an annual competition for contemporary chamber opera. From the submitted entries, six to eight semi-finalists will be selected and excerpts of these operas will be performed in front of a live audience. A panel of judges will critique the entire score, and the audience and judges will vote to select four operas for the final round. For the finals, the winning excerpts will be performed again with critiques from the judges, and the audience will question the composers directly. The audience then votes to determine the winner of the competition, and the results will be announced at the following night’s festival performance. The composer of the winning opera will receive a cash prize, and possibly have the opera fully produced at the next festival.
